Discuss the innerconnectivity of organisms in an ecosystem and globally. Discuss how invasive species can harm organisms even when they are not found in the same ecosystem/niche. Give a specific example from the video or case studies we have studied.
Interconnectivity between organisms is defined as to be or become connected or interrelated (dictionary.reference.com). Most organisms are connected with each other from trophic level to trophic level. An example would be of how pigs help phytoplankton get C02. This may be odd, but let me explain. Pigs, are used to feed humans, then humans use the energy to create an industry, this industry then creates C02 emission and the ocean absorbs this C02, taking it to the bottom of the ocean so phytoplankton can feed. Invasive species can harm organisms even if they aren't in the same ecosystem/niche since they can affect an ecosystem that affects another. For example, an invasive species lets say, a plant, can ruin the population of a species that preys on this particular plant, causing extinction. The level above the extinct species is now affected and can no longer feed on their native prey, causing much damage to the ecosystem that bases around this particular animal.
